Great Neck Country Club in Waterford was the venue for the ECAR Affiliate Committee’s Wine Tasting event on October 9 to benefit the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation. Individual members were sponsors and numerous door prizes were donated. Chocolate Rose Bakeshop provided sweets for the evening. Over $1,000 was raised for the Foundation at the event.

The Affiliate Committee also presented the 2014 Community Service Award to Rachael Johnston, of Johnston & Associates Real Estate in Thompson. She is a food pantry volunteer for Daily Bread in Putnam and TEEG in Thompson. Her community activities include leadership roles with the Northeast CT Chamber of Commerce, the Living Faith United Methodist Church, and her High School Alumni Association. She is also a Federal Political Coordinator for the National Association of REALTORS and is a member of the Professional Standards Committee and the Nominating Committee. $500 will be donated in her honor to the Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group (TEEG) to support the summer reading program.

Deb Fountain of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services New England was the runner-up for the award. Her numerous community activities include conducting food drives for the Gemma Moran Food Bank. $250 will be donated in her honor to the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation.

Samantha Storey of RE/MAX Home Team was also nominated for the award.
