Clayton Wins 2012 ECAR Community Service
Award
The Tasting For A Cure event on October 19 was the venue for the
presentation of Eastern Connecticut Association of REALTORS® 2012
Community Service Award to Quincy Clayton, a REALTOR® with RE/MAX
Property Consultants in Groton. The award is given to members who do
significant work in the community for the benefit of charities, organizations
and individuals. The first place recipient and a runner-up are chosen who each
designate a charity to donate a cash award to. The winner is awarded $500 to
the charity of his or her choice and the runner-up is awarded $250 to the
charity of his or her choice. Quincy has chosen to donate the $500 award to
S.T.E.P.S. in Groton. In addition to being an active ECAR member, Quincy spends
many volunteer hours assisting the New London Covenant Shelter, the Fairview
Odd Fellows Nursing Home, the Born Again Oureach
Ministry, the Susan B. Komen Race For
the Cure and Habitat for Humanity. “I believe that my service to others is
based on a general principle taught to me by my father as a young boy “Treat
others as you would want them to treat you.” he said.
The runner-up was Douglas
Taber, the Designated REALTOR® of Taber Realty in Moosup, CT. He has chosen to donate the $250 award to the
American Cancer Society. In addition to being a member of the ECAR Board of
Directors, Doug played a key role in the creation of the Plainfield Business
Association. As its President he has played a key role in bringing the business
community together. He also serves on the Town’s Board of Finance.
The presentation of the Community
Service Award was the highlight of “The Tasting For A
Cure” event, an ECAR wine tasting to benefit the Terri Broduer
Breast Cancer Foundation. The event raised over $1,400
for the Foundation.
